    Pakuashipi

Pakuashipi is one of the two Amerindian communities on the Lower North Shore. It is populated by the Montagnais indians, who speak their native language, as well as English and French. The Montagnais, originally nomadic, settled in Pakuashipi after houses were built there in 1972 by the Minister of Indian Affairs. One of the greatest things about this village is the bond it shares with it's sister village of St. Augustine. There are frequently joint activities between the two towns that have allowed a close kinship to spring up within the two communities. Authentic native art is available on demand for the interested tourist.
