Home of the only movie theatre on the Lower North Shore, Blanc Sablon is the north-eastern most village on the coast. The name comes from the Basques who used to have whaling expeditions in the area during the 16th century. In 1820, this village was founded by Martin Parent as a part of the Canadian Labrador Territory. Then, in 1927, Blanc-Sablon became a part of Quebec. Now, an important fishing village, it's less than 400 residents welcome the increasing trends towards tourism in their community.
